This rare Snakewood is found along the banks of the Amazon in South America. Initially red in color, snakewood changes its colors when exposed to air. This extremely dense hardwood can be difficult to work with. It splinters and splits very easily and is very hard to cut and drill. The bright side is that it turns well and polishes beautifully. This pen is a fine example of a highly polished snakewood in a wall stree style. It has 24k gold fittings to inhance the deep reddish color and dark snake stripes. It uses Cross refills and would make a wonderful gift for any occasion or a fine addition to any collection.
