Snakewood is a relatively rare wood that comes from small trees deep in the Amazon jungle. The wood gets it's stripes when it is initially exposed to air and eventually turns the wood a deep redish brown color. An extremely dense hardwood, snakewood can be hard to work with as it tends to chip and splits fairly easily. It is also hard to drill and cut. The bright side is that when polished, it shines brightly and remains beautiful for a long time.
